Drip Emails - Leveraging AutoResponders to Increase Conversion Rate

One of the major advantages of using Email Marketing Automation software such as LeadPro is the ability to automate marketing messages to the prospective customers (or list subscribers) in an intelligent, targeted fashion based on certain event triggers. Automated delivery of email messages is known as drip marketing emails, a terminology derived from real estate marketing. Internet marketing professionals and affiliate marketing firms refer drip emails as autoresponders.

Drip Emails
Drip emails are essentially simple event triggered emails. Drip emails are follow-up emails sent after a contact signs-up to a list in a sequence after certain number of days. An example would be:

  • Send an introduction email broadcast (or campaign) on 3rd day after sign-up
     
  • Send 2nd email message with more product details after 5 days from the first email (or 8 days from sign-up)
     
  • Send 3rd email message with a teaser offer after 7 days from the 2nd email (i.e. 15 days after sign-up)
     
  • Send 4th email message with a deadline for a special offer or purchase after 5 days from 3rd message.

Once the messages are set up and the schedule is defined, the system will automatically send the respective email message based on the number of days from sign-up. There is no need for human intervention. In the above example, Number of Days from Sign-up Date is the trigger.

Advanced Drip Triggers

Apart from the simple triggers mentioned above, advanced triggers can be defined using LeadPro Drip Email definitions. Online behavioral activities tracked by the system can be used to setup the triggers. For example, email opens, clicks, web visits, etc. can be used in combination with specific email campaign dates.

Apart from automating the message delivery and saving the manual efforts, drip marketing helps to follow-up with the prospect on continual basis and increase the lead conversion rates. In a typical B2C (Business to Consumer) scenario, it is estimated that it takes about 7 touch points to convert the lead. In such cases, event triggered sequential follow-up messages will be a great a boon to the marketers.

Drip Emails can also be used to cross sell and / or up sell goods and services in an automated fashion.
